Konsortium Bina Darulaman Berhad-Pembinaan Kery Sdn Bhd is the main contractor for TEKIH project. The work on the highway started in August 2005.
This project involves the construction of a 74.5 kilometres dual-lane single carriageway road from Durian Burung to Kupang in Kedah. This highway will connect the inlands of Kedah with the more developed west coast through the existing East-West Highway. This highway will link to a new gateway to Thailand at Kota Putra. Besides the construction of the road, the general scope of work includes construction of road pavement, junctions, slope protection and stabilization works, a total of 13 bridges, drains and culverts, landscaping, road furniture and street lighting.
This project has been divided into two packages namely Package A and Package B for implementation. Package A is subdivided into the following segments:
Segment 1 - From Durian Burung to Pedu = 45 km
Segment 2 - From Sg. Chapar to Sg. Sok = 3.5 km
Segment 3 - From Weng to Kupang = 26 km
Total length of the proposed road under Package A is approximately 74.5 km. The scope of work involved can be summarized as follows:
- Construction of a 2-lane single carriageway road of R5 standard.
- Construction of road pavement, road junctions and drainage works;
- Construction and widening of bridges (Total 13 nos. bridges);
- Landscaping, road furniture and street lighting at specified locations.
- Relocation of public utilities and services where required.

Taman Ehsan Jaya

The Group has on 24 July 2007 entered into a Sale and Purchase Agrement with TPPT Sdn Bhd for the acquisition of seven (7) parcels of development land in Pekan Pandamaran, District of Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan for a total cash consideration of RM32 million.
The said land is located within Pandamaran, Pelabuhan Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan and is accessible via several main roads in the Klang vicinity such as the Persiaran Raja Muda Musa as well as the KESAS highway.
We intend to develop the said land into a mixed development known as “Taman Ehsan Jaya” which will comprise 501 units of residential houses and 320 shop-lots along with commercial areas (covering 8.97 acres) and industrial areas (covering 6.92 acres), at an estimated gross development value of approximately RM500 million. The proposed development is expected to contribute development and construction profits of approximately RM150 million to the Melati Group over the development period. The development costs of approximately RM350 million will be funded through proceeds from Melati’s initial public offering exercise which was completed in March 2007 as well as bank borrowings and/or internally generated funds.
The proposed development is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2008 and expected to be completed by 2012.
